[opensuse] Problem setting up server with RAID
Hi, I'm trying to setup a 64-bit server with RAID. using Suse 10.1 64-bit version. I have a IDE 80GB harddrive on hda which I want to use for booting and swapping. I have 3 x 80GB SATA drives I want to use as a RAID5 unit. The problem is that I can't get the install process to boot from the hard drive. The mounting points are: IDE drive is /boot Raid drive is /<root> Where am I getting things wrong? Many thanks Nico --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What do you mean by "can't get the install process to boot from the hard drive" - this can be an issue of the PATA/SATA drives showup up in different orders between the BIOS and the kernel. What more information can you give us? -- Carpe diem - Seize the day. Carp in denim - There's a fish in my pants! If I am understanding this correctly, and that you get this after a new installation, then reinstall and this time choose ext3, at least for /boot and /. I've had problems with reiserfs, and personally do not use anything but ext2/3 and occasionally jfs. That may help. -- Carpe diem - Seize the day. Carp in denim - There's a fish in my pants!
