[opensuse] leap 42.3, today libreoffice version suddenyl upgraded
hi there thought opensuse wouldnt do these major upgrades of projects or packages but rather patches and smallish version increases today on leap 42.3 some libreoffice 5.4.x suddenly upgraded itself to 6.0.3 methinks via zypper up what is the general plan for upgrades? there was arguing in the past e.g. firefox and then firefox esr comes to my mind and the reluctance of advancing the latest firefox releases and instead the maintainer switching over to firefox esr in recent months. any explanation on these decisions and when an upgrade is fit for deployment or when smallish version number increases are rather used instead? tia. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

LibreOffice on Leap follows the SLE LibreOffice and there we are regulary doing version updates. For Firefox SLE and Leap follow the ESR stream. Do you see any actual problems due to that? I'm confused. I too have liberation-fonts and not liberation2-fonts. How come you have different? Reading around about the difference between the packages, it appears that liberation2-fonts is an update that has some additional narrow fonts but also has some extra rendering errors. Pure coincidence - it came rolling with the normal bug updates on opensuse-bugs@o.o I guess you have suse-xsl-stylesheets installed ? If you try deinstalling that along with liberation2-fonts (if you don't need either of them), it might work. libreoffice-6.0.3.2-18.1.x86_64 requires liberation-fonts, but this requirement cannot be provided uninstallable providers: liberation-fonts-1.07.2-6.3.noarch[download.opensuse.org-oss]

Yes.
If you try deinstalling that along with liberation2-fonts (if you don't need either of them), it might work. On a vanilla desktop, I don't have suse-xsl-stylesheets installed.
I think I have that one because I have LyX installed, and some other documentation generation packages. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.3 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)
