I am having problems with SuSe, OpenAL and my games. I have had no problem launching these same games from the same installed dir, on the same system with Mandrake/Mandriva and Gentoo installs. *UT2004* gives the best feedback. i get: ioctl SETFRAGMENT grab: Invalid argument ut2004-bin: al_mixer.c:735: _alSetMixer: Assertion `mixbuf.data' failed. Signal: SIGIOT [iot trap] Aborting. So i did a search for the al_mixer.c file in the openal source. I found it in both the kernel source tree AND in the ut2004 install dir [i choose to install OpenAL and SDL source when i re-installed ut2004] I found the function that does the assertion. Its comment and decleration are as follows: /* * _alSetMixer( ALboolean synchronous ) * * Sets mixer to match the current context. If synchronous is AL_FALSE, a * seperate thread is launched. * * assumes locked context */ void _alSetMixer( ALboolean synchronous ) *Call of Duty.* This fails saying: "Failed to start the Miles sound system...." *MoHAA:* This starts without an error, but no sound *BF1942: *Same as *MoHAA *Sound, otherwise is great! Mixing is working right out of the box, unlike with the other distro's i have tried. Is this a bug worth reporting ?? I have seen posts by other SuSe users with the same problem on forums around the net, but no solutions. Does anyone here have their games working [Native or Cedega] ?? Thanx alot.

Lookie what dmesg turned up intel8x0_measure_ac97_clock: measured 53060 usecs intel8x0: clocking to 47458 ALSA sound/core/oss/mixer_oss.c:1274: unable to register OSS mixer device 0:0 ALSA sound/core/oss/pcm_oss.c:2446: unable to register OSS PCM device 0:0 Does this look any more familiar to anybody ??
