[opensuse] 12.2 upgrade via DVD - bootloader left using grub
I upgraded 12.1 to 12.2 by using the install DVD. It went OK once I sorted out kernel and nvidia proprietary driver mismatches - probably my fault when driving things from the command line. One nasty is that if X doesn't start (nvidia module fails to load), then the system does not fall back to a console - the green screen with the white creepy crawlies never goes away. I noticed I'm still on grub. I see no changes in the boot menu, where as a fresh 12.2 install I have booting in vbox has a very different boot menu. Is there a recommended, documented and safe procedure for upgrading an existing opensuse system from grub to grub2? The main reason I'm interested in moving to grub2 is that the boot sequence looks a bit ugly - seems a shame when everything else looks quite polished. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
