[opensuse] How to raise app request for OpenSuSE 11 ?
How do I raise requests for including an application with OpenSuSE 11 ? Or at least getting an RPM hosted with dependencies resolved, on the site? I'm interested in two applications 1. Jabbin - http://sourceforge.net/projects/jabbin I managed to resolve dependencies and install jabbin using mandriva rpms on my opensuse 10.3 box.. but will be great if I can have a suse rpm.. until at least google releases Ereseva (http://code.google.com/p/ereseva) I need a gtalk client with voice capability.. Jabbin also seems to look much better than ereseva 2. GYache Improved a.k.a. GYachI - http://gyachi.sourceforge.net/ This yahoo messenger port seems to supporte video conferencing features also. Never quite managed to get this one compiled nor installed with any rpms.. Couldn't quite resolved the dependencies however hard I tried.. Please let me know.. Will really be helpful if I can get these two apps because then I can do voice and video conferencing with my parents.. -Varghese -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Have a look at http://live.yahoo.com no app installation required. Cheers -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Have you tried Kopete? It works with Yahoo and video. It is part of KDE InstantMessenger. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 running openSUSE 10.3 x86_64 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Alexey, I raised two bug reports at bugzilla.novell.com for OpenSuSE 11.0 373122 and 373123 -Varghese -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Kopete doesn't support voice with yahoo.. And to use the webcam I need to install jasper. Jasper is not present on the opensuse 10.3 dvd I have and when I try installing jasper with fedora 9 / SuSE linux 10 rpms, I can't resolve the dependancies.. :( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

:( jasper is available from the online repository, i.e. add the following URL via the Yast Software Repositories module: http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.3/repo/oss/ or use the Community Repositories module to add Main OSS. That should allow Yast to be able to solve the dependencies and you can install jasper via Yast. AFAIK, Kopete doesn't support voice, you are correct. For any software, use http://software.opensuse.org/search to search if it is available for openSUSE. From there, you could also install via one-click. HTH.

Thanks.. That fixes the video.. Maybe I can chat on gtalk/jabbin and see on yahoo/kopete :D Will raise a request as Alexey suggests though.. If independent solutions for gtalk and yahoo, it will be good. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

There is third option if you want to solve similar problems without waiting for somebody to solve that for you. Preconditions: 1) You have time to learn and experiment 2) You have to learn a bit about Build Service http://en.opensuse.org/Build_Service and Packaging http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging Than if you have problems subscribe to opensuse-packaging and opensuse-buildservice mail list and ask for help. It is a bit more work, but not much more than it is involved in resolving problems for one program on your own computer. Advantage is that you will help not only you, and the effort is the same. -- Regards, Rajko.
