[opensuse] Yast, multiple NICs, and default routes
Hello List, as far as I can tell, Yast does provide an option to edit DHCLIENT_SET_DEFAULT_ROUTE for individual NICs. This means that when multiple NICs are set up for DHCP, the actual default route is subject to a race condition -- surely not a desirable state. Is this true, or did I miss something? Should I file a bug? Thanks, A. -- Ansgar Esztermann DV-Systemadministration Max-Planck-Institut für biophysikalische Chemie, Abteilung 105

from man ifcfg-dhcp ... DHCLIENT_SET_DEFAULT_ROUTE {yes*|no} Should the DHCP client set a default route (default Gateway)? When multiple copies of DHCP clients run, it would make sense that only one of them does it. ... So setting this to yes on only one interface is a usual configuration.

If you enable DHCLIENT_SET_DEFAULT_ROUTE for multiple NICs, I think you're asking for trouble, yes. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (5.7°C) http://www.dns24.ch/ - your free DNS host, made in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
