CVS with SSH from a private subnet (savana.gnu.org)
I just discovered that I can access the emacs cvs repository anonymously from my firewall/router, but not from my workstation which is a member of a private subnet setup using IP masquerading. Has anybody encountered this kind of thing? Is there something I can do on my end to make it possible to access the CVS repository from my workstation? STH

I've seen this kind of thing before with ssh specifically. I'm guessing you're using one of those cheap personal routers. Netgear maybe? Some of those routers choke on certain packets when ECN is enabled on the source and destination hosts. If this is what is happening, you should contact your vendor and ask for an updated firmware. Alternatively, you can: - - Buy a better router - - Use a SUSE box with SuSEFirewall2 (Highly recommended) - - Disable ECN on your side by editing /etc/sysconfig/sysctl and setting DISABLE_ECN="yes" - -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAHmQS+FOexA3koIgRAuyoAKCtqYz4jZnBqj2DOibevsbh+P+KhACfRxwi 6ckIJt4zJmyWMNK5fr4EX94= =UEOu -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
