Hi Folks, I can't seem to get any of the Screen Savers to start in Gnome, though they are all working in KDE... or are they only for KDE? They are in the Gnome menu:system Screen Savers. Thanks (i know they aren't so important)

Check your time&date settings. This showed up as Dec 9, 2002 - a year ago. Which version of SUSE are you running and which version of Gnome & KDE? Stan
SuSe 9.0 and the Gnome that came with it: 2.2 I believe. Thanks On Mon, 2003-12-08 at 23:26, Stan Glasoe wrote:

[I'm guessing you're on SuSE 9.0, with the default SuSE GNOME setup] If my assumption is correct, then no, those screensavers won't work, because they are indeed K screensavers. GNOME currently uses the uber-screensaver, XScreensaver by jwz. To utilise it, right click on a panel, select Add to Panel > Button > Lock Then, if you right click on that button, and select Properties you can configure which one to use. Of course, you'll want to have a YOU updated system (or fou4s, apt...) to have the version of XScreensaver that doesn't seg fault on password authentication. -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0). That's it then, Thanks On Tue, 2003-12-09 at 02:52, James Ogley wrote:

Gnome uses a different screensave (X-Screensaver) than KDE so you have to set it up separately. In Gnome, go to Desktop Preferences, then to Advanced. clcik on the Screensaver icon and you will be able to set everything up there. Hope this helps. Don Henson
