Hi, MY printer used to work under 9.0 but since my upgrade to 9.1 I cannot get anything working. I have an hp laserjet 1200 connected via an hp print server (printjet 500 with 3 ports). When I try to use the CUPS web interface at http://localhost:631/admin it asks for a login and password. I never set any. Does anyone know what the defaults are? I did not like my root login/password. When Yast configures my printer, it detects the print server but after that there is no other operation it does to configure the printer itself. I looked under the PPD directory and it was empty. I re-installed all the CUPS packages and it is still empty. Any suggestions where to start? Thanks, Babu __________________________________ Yahoo! Hi, first you may look into /etc/cups/cupd.conf, there you should find a <location /admin> section. Per default the access options are set to the following: AuthType BasicDigest AuthClass Group AuthGroupName sys This means in simple words that you have to authenticate yourself. The user you use to login must belong to the group "sys" to be able to enter the cups admin area. Just put your user to the group and you should be able to get in there.. ( you should not deactivate the access control! ) does this help? Markus

See our support database. There is a detailed explanation there.
I looked under the PPD directory and it was empty.
I cannot guess what you mean with "PPD directory" (/etc/cups/ppd/ or /usr/share/cups/model/ or whatever) but http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/jsmeix_print-cups-in-a-nutshell.html should help in case of general problems.
