Since installing KDE3.1.3 some months ago I have had a series of "occational" problems with KMAIL - as below. I have just gritted my teeth and ignored them, but now they are becoming permanent and un bearable. Googling does not seem to yield anything useful. I hope someone can help. Bear in mind that I am a simple trainer and need to be led in this field. Norman 1. it does not always load immediately. sometimes it loads on the first click on the button , sometimes afer a few clicks, and now more often it requires up to about 15 2. Sometimes it opens mails fine, and at other times it converts mails into UNKNOWN in subject, sender and date.... with no content. Only when I move the mail to trash or another sub folder does it become readable again, with its administrative details. 3. ALWAYS - on shutting it down - it launches crash handler with the following messages: 0x415e63a9 in wait4 () from /lib/i686/libc.so.6 #0 0x415e63a9 in wait4 () from /lib/i686/libc.so.6 #1 0x41661cf0 in __DTOR_END__ () from /lib/i686/libc.so.6 #2 0x41459983 in waitpid () from /lib/i686/libpthread.so.0 #3 0x40b99d9d in KCrash::defaultCrashHandler(int) () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkdecore.so.4 #4 0x41457a7a in pthread_sighandler () from /lib/i686/libpthread.so.0 #5 <signal handler called> #6 0x407305ee in Kpgp::Module::~Module() () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkdenetwork.so.2 #7 0x08159fca in QComboBox::setAutoCompletion(bool) () #8 0x4077993f in KStaticDeleterKpgp::Module::destructObject() () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkdenetwork.so.2 #9 0x40ba5b87 in KGlobal::deleteStaticDeleters() () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkdecore.so.4 #10 0x40b2e906 in KApplication::~KApplication() () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkdecore.so.4 #11 0x40bb45c7 in KUniqueApplication::~KUniqueApplication() () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkdecore.so.4 #12 0x0818a38e in QComboBox::setAutoCompletion(bool) () #13 0x415614c2 in __libc_start_main () from /lib/i686/libc.so.6

Do you update using apt? Anytime you see the subject etc go to unknown, you have a problem. Do not do anything except the following to keep from losing wanted files/messages. The cure to the above problem is to go into you /home/Mail directory, set view Hidden files and then being sure Kmail is not running, delete all index files in that directory. Now restart Kmail and all will be well in Mudville. I cant help you on the rest of the problems. Sorry., Richard

What does it says if you start it by command line?

I do not know what's the problem but it looks like deep in kdelibs... Praise
