[opensuse] oss 11.2, bug in hplip
It appears that hplip-3.9.8-3.4.1.i586 that installs with openSuse is missing a file called models.dat. Running hp-setup shows an error stating "error: Unable to locate models.dat file" and indeed there is no modesl.dat included in the rpm. Back-reving hplip (thanks to jsmeix for his repo!) seems to fix the issue. Is anyone seeing this as well? Thanks in advance for any help. -- --Moby They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -- Benjamin Franklin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Search for the package hplip-hpcups and remove it. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The models.dat file and all what is needed for plain printing was moved since openSUSE 11.2 to the hplip-hpijs sub package, see http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=546856 Accordingly the openSUSE 11.2 hplip-3.9.8-... RPM requires its exact matching version-release hplip-hpijs sub package. Check what on your system rpm -q --requires hplip | grep hpijs results. If you have hplip from openSUSE there must be a line hplip-hpijs = 3.9.8-... in its output. In your case it seems the exact matching hplip-hpijs sub package is not installed so that it should help when you re-install both hplip and hplip-hpijs from openSUSE. If in your case a package hplip-hpcups is installed, it indicates that you have a mixed-up HPLIP installation with HPLIP packages from Packman (hplip-hpcups) and HPLIP packages from openSUSE (hplip), see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=515005 Kind Regards Johannes Meixner -- SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstrasse 5, 90409 Nuernberg, Germany AG Nuernberg, HRB 16746, GF: Markus Rex -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Many thanks - that was it. I deleted my current packages, installed the ones from repo-oss, and put a zypper lock so those packages will only be updated from repo-oss.
