AFAIK it's not, as I was always told you should better not fill a partition too much over 50% to prevent fragmentation. Of course big disks may have changed that, but I still would not like to work with a 97% full partition (unless it's really only storage). It is only storage of large files, like distro iso images. No way YOU would write there. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Just out of curiosity: What are you using the other "roundabout 19" partitions for? regards Eberhard -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Huh, now, I have to think. I don't remember. O:-) windows (system) extended swap 3 boot partitions (for booting different setups) 1 test partition (currently holding a spare/rescue/test 10.2) 1 /usr/local 1 home1 (xfs) 1 home2 (reiserfs) (mirroring backup) 1 windows (data) 1 small windows part (fat16, 2G), historical reasons. Usually holds plain msdos, but now I don't remember. 1 encrypted partition 1 software raid, for experiments. 1 for possible bigger future software raid 1 reserved for testing; currently holds vmware images. 1 with rest for big files. Now, notice that primaries 3 and 4 are not used, so I don't actually have 20 partitions, but they increase the number. As previously the limit was 63, there was no reason not to partition at will. This fractionating has sometimes saved my "life" more than once: a partition was utterly destroyed, almost all data lost. If I had everything in a huge partition, the loss would have been terrible. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Now, isn't it absurd that it complains of space, when there are 3.5 GB free, even if that's only 3%?
I guess it's complaining because the free space is less than 5%. That's the system default AFAIK but I believe you can tune it. So if you want a different limit but haven't set it, it's not the system that's absurd :) Cheers, Dave -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I don't think it is a system default, but a YOU warning default. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. It's certainly a feature of ext2 and ext3 filesystems (and previously in Unix). I don't know about other filesystems. Cheers, Dave -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

This one is XFS. - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
