[opensuse] Bug in latest kernel 3.16.7-13 security patch
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, There is a bug <https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=927018> in the latest kernel security patch which prevents a graphical login if you are running nVidia graphics with the proprietary drivers. I'm not sure if it applies to other graphics cards. They are working on a fix, but for now I am staying with kernel 3.16.7-7 and not upgrading to 3.16.7-13. Hi,

Not quite. It prevents reusing nvidia modules that were compiled for earlier kernel releases in 13.2. Just rebuild (or reinstall) drivers under new kernel. Of course as new kernel version with fixes will hopefully be released soon, it makes sense to wait, otherwise modules built under -13 will be incompatible with next update again :)
I'm not sure if it applies to other graphics cards.
It will apply to any kernel module.
They are working on a fix, but for now I am staying with kernel 3.16.7-7 and not upgrading to 3.16.7-13.

Thanks for the clarification, Andrei. I hope the fixed kernel versions will be 'announced'?

I have retracted the old kernel update. We will be publishing a fixed in the next days / early next week. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
