You can reduce the output to a single line with the --silent option on
the fetchmail invocation.

Why run fetchmail from cron? Isn't it enough to start it as daemon and specify poll interval? I have run fetchmail as a cron process because it doesn't take up
(virtual/swap) memory between polling intervals and I don't need to
worry about restarting it if it dies.
