[opensuse] Playing games on 11.4 impossible due to services
I have about 1-5 fps in some gaves due to background disk operations by services prepare_preload and tracker on 11.4. These services tale about 30% of CPU load each. How can I disable them? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Add to Bug 680456? Unistall preload? - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. What to do with tracker? I cannot uninstall it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I do not have it installed, so I'm sure it's possible to uninstall. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Well actually it is possible toi uninstall but with about 227 packages as well, including yast2 and zypper. As I use zypper, I consider this to be inacceptable. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

And you tried to disable it? Seems the first thing that comes to ones mind if one wants to stop some service. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have looked in the service list in Yast (SCPM) and there is no such service there. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I was under the impression this was a user space desktop search, like beagle used to be. Seems like some kind of GNOME failure, I'd imagine you'll need to poke around in the GNOME settings to disable it, not the system settings. -- “What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof.” - Christopher Hitchens -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
