[opensuse] How to contribute to XGL hardware database?
Is there a procedure to report results to the XGL hardware database? For example I have a laptop with an ATI Mobility adapter, that works very well, but in Desktop Enhancements it gets reported that the card is not in the database. Ideally there should be a button right in that interface to report back. Something similar to the Ubuntu Device Database Collection utility, that collects hardware info, asks you a few questions as it runs through some basic tests, and then uploads the data, all voluntary of course. It even gives you the submission ID back, so in any bug reports you can quote it. The procedure is to file a bug, the card needs validation before it can be listed and supported in the approved list. Attach the output of hwinfo --gfxcard. -JP -- JP Rosevear <jpr@novell.com> Novell, Inc. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

can we use the already established CDB for it? see this thread http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/opensuse/2006-Jul/0132.html darix -- openSUSE - SUSE Linux is my linux openSUSE is good for you www.opensuse.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-help@opensuse.org

In the database are only cards that have been tested in-house, because only these tests can assure that we can support a graphics card. So, no, to the best of my knowledge this isn't possible. However, if the wiki states that your hardware is not working, and it is now with a newer driver, please update the wiki. Also please update the wiki if you have a card that does not work and isn't mentioned yet.

No. The hardware list is about certification, a user cannot do this.
