Did you run "install_bcm43xx_firmware" (while plugged to an ethernet connection ?)
no, I didn't. Just the above words as-is in a root console?
Yes, but you need a internet connection available. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

(Sorry for pm, I always click to fast on "answer"...) I did that now (sudo /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware) It was downloading b43 firmware, extracting a lot, then downloading b43legacy firmware, again etracting a lot, terminating with b43 firmware successfully installed. b43 legacy firmware successfully installed. shutting down the computer after hat resulted in kernel panic. So I did the same again and rebooted again, but no change: there is still no wireless... What else can I do? I just installed OS 12.3 on my Mac Powerbook 8.1 and cannot find out how to make wireless working. There is simply no wireless device seen, neither in Yast nor in NetworkManager. So I did the same again and rebooted again, but no change: there is still no wireless...
What else can I do?
It seems that your Mac is a Macbook Pro, not a Powerbook. Is that correct? Powerbooks use different hardware. Also, can you run "lspci" from a terminal & post the result? That would give us a list of devices to find out which wireless device you have. Yes, you are correct. It's a Macbook Pro 8.1. (I seems I got confused with all the googling I did...)

Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4331 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 02) Ethernet controller: Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM57765 Gigabit thernet PCIe (rev 10) (Ethernet is working, oi wireless does not...).
