Netgear II PCI wireless and SuSE 8.2
Hi: Has anybody been able to get the Netgear II PCI wireless card to work with SuSE 8.2? Mine says it will use the prism2_plx driver, but it will not connect. Is this a windows-only card? I would appreciate it if you could point to a how-to or similar that I can use. Thank you. -- Alfredo J. Cole http://www.acyc.com http://www.clshonduras.com linux@acyc.com
Hi Alfredo I would recomend you go back and read the SuSE mailing list archive. Or just put it on your PC and let YaST have a go at detecting the right driver for it. A few weeks ago I had the same questions about the Netgear MA311 PCI card. That card also uses the Prism chipset, and I was very pleased to find that the drivers are already in SuSE 8.2 A few others posted with their experience of other cards. Have a read of this message and its thread of messages. http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2003-Oct/1837.html
uses the prism2_plx driver, Is this a windows driver ?
but it will not connect. Have you got it working under windows ? Are you convinced you have the PC + WiFi card in a location with good signal strenth ? Mine is a bit temperamental after going through 2 brick walls ;-)
Good luck, W

That's what I did. Yast says it is a National Datacomm Network Controller, using the prism2_plx driver. (...)

I read this message. The funny thing is that I also have a NetGearII card installed in my notebook, using SuSE 8.2 and it works great.
uses the prism2_plx driver,
Is this a windows driver ?
No. SuSE says that's what it will use.
but it will not connect.
Have you got it working under windows ?
Yes. Works fine.

Using the same PC as when running windows, same location.
Good luck, W
