USB wireless adapter under SuSE?
Hi everybody. This is on behalf of a friend who I am trying to persuade to jump ships to Linux :-))) Does anybody know of any success stories using a Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter model WUSB54G? Of course the big problem is that it is a USB model. Perhaps if not in SuSE Linux then another distro? Or failing that can anybody suggest places I could look up for further help? I have checked the Linksys homepage. -- Take care. Kevan Farmer 34 Hill Street Cheslyn Hay Staffordshire WS6 7HR

Have you tried installing the driver using ndiswrapper? It is what I needed to use my non-usb adapter and may also work for you. -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989, linux since 1994, SuSE since 1998 "The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is probably the day they start making vacuum cleaners." -Ernst Jan Plugge

Hi Ken. I will ask the question :-) To be honest I doubt it though as he is a newcomer to Linux. It's also not a case that I can pop over and configure it for him... I'm in the U.K. and he's in the U.S. bit too far to go to sort out a network adapter :-)))) I will certainly pass on the idea though. Thank you. -- Take care. If your friend will keep the same email address why not have them sign up to the list and ask away? If they don't stick with SuSE then they can always quit the list. Might get lucky and have one of us USA'ers nearby to help also... Just a thought. Stan

Good idea, Stan. The trouble is I'm not even sure he is running SuSE. It's the reason I asked my original question in a rather open way :-)))) of whether the hardware worked with 'Linux'. I'm just trying to get as much information for him as I can. Once he's happy using Linux I can tempt him into buying the latest version of SuSE. There is method in my madness though I apologise for asking a wide open question about Linux on a specifially SuSE site. -- Take care. Kevan Farmer 34 Hill Street Cheslyn Hay Staffordshire WS6 7HR
