Oh come on Mark,
How many messages do you get weekly, and how many of those messages are from Fred? 3, 4 maybe 5? Fred's messages are always very small. Just a link and a brief description what it's about. Fred is a long time member of this list and although his messages are mostly (agreed) OT, the links he sends us ARE linux oriented and almost always interesting to read (to me anyway). So it's not like he's flooding us with spam, is he? I like his presence on this list and I'd regret to see him leave. (so keep sending us these links Fred!)

The list is one thing. I was just curious about that. Off-list is another. Why do I get them OFF-LIST. My wife gets them too. She's never been on this list. -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh@cfl.rr.com

My guess is that someone is forwarding them to you by "bounce".
In this way, the forwarded message _appears_ to come from the
original sender directly, though you should be able to detect
that it was "bounced" by looking at the route trace in the headers
(which does not usually show up when the mail is viewed in the
ordinary way).
I would be surprised if Fred Miller was sending them directly to
anyone: as far as I know his bulletins are simply sent to the list.
Best wishes,
Ted.

Next time I get one I'll look for that. This is probably it. I'd go back and look at some but they go to trash and it gets emptied frequently.

I'm sure that is correct. Thanks..
Best wishes, Ted.

I'd prefer Fred to being spammed with HTML mail any day of the week :)) BTW, on our own discussion list here in Sheffield we ask people to go away to some other list if they send HTML mail to us. Thanks -- Richard
