[opensuse] Not able to connect wifi
Hi, Since morning, my laptop is keep failing to connect to a Wifi. The Wifi is placed in my room only. Me and my fried used to use this. He is being able to connect it using Mac OS, but not me :( . This started since morning. I checked the passwords, the router used to authenticate, is not changed. I didn't change any *config* setting also. Then why my laptop keep failing ? Any advice please. -- ================ Regards, Arup Rakshit -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Sometimes changes happen indirectly, for example an automatic update might bring in a new library, a new kernel or kernel module. Scary, isn't it, but this is what we get when we try making things 'user friendly' to deal with 'dumb users' such as those who migrate from other operating systems that work on the basis of 'learned disability' and where you *have* to update of get s****ed because the bugs allow the Back hate to hijack your machine for their botnet. /endsundaymorningrant -- "Your time is the greatest gift you can give someone" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's your rant, and your entitled to your rant. However, I kind of take exception. I'm one of those "dumb users" and have been for about 14 years. And, yes I consider myself a "dumb user". I'm still learning every day. I like "user friendly". It allows me to run Linux rather than that other OS. There's nothing wrong with being a "dumb user" using a "user friendly" OS. -- Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must. like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.-Thomas Paine _ _... ..._ _ _._ ._ ..... ._.. ... .._ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It's hard to say without more info, but given your friend can connect, but you can't that leaves only your computer. If you haven't changed the settings, then it may be a hardware problem. Have you tried redoing the password etc.? You might also try a live Linux CD to see if you can connect with it. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
Does the laptop have an on/off switch for the wifi? Sometimes it gets pressed by mistake. Check if the wifi light is blue or orange. As root, what is the output of "ifconfig"? Gustav On 05/25/2014 08:36 AM, Arup Rakshit wrote:

You might want to check your computer clock. You apparently sent this message two hours from now. My clocks, one NTP, other receiving a signal from WWVB both say 7:59. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
