Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing the suse-linux-e@suse.com mailing list.
I'm working for my owner, who can be reached at suse-linux-e-owner@suse.com.
Acknowledgment: I have added the address
castro@informatik.uni-kl.de
to the suse-linux-e mailing list.
Welcome to suse-linux-e@suse.com!
Please save this message so that you know the address you are subscribed under, in case you later want to unsubscribe or change your subscription address.
To unsubscribe, send a message to:
<suse-linux-e-unsubscribe-castro=informatik.uni-kl.de@suse.com>
Please read the following frequently asked, frequently asked questions before posting to the list. As with any mailing list or newsgroup, it's usually a good idea to read the list for a few days before posting. At the very least, retreive the list FAQ now (and read it) by mailing <suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com>
Please do not send test messages to the list -- it's annoying and rude. Instead, use our test list. Send an email to test-list-subscribe@suse.com and reply to the confirmation request you will receive (just like you did to subscribe to suse-linux-e). To unsubscribe, send an email to test-list-unsubscribe@suse.com or do nothing...you'll be automatically unsubscribed within 24 hours. The list also has a small FAQ explaining the most common posting problems. There's no need to subscribe to the test list to see it, just email test-list-faq@suse.com.
You might also want to subscribe to SLE's companion list, suse-ot, if you enjoy off-topic discussions. Email suse-ot-subscribe@suse.com.
----Some Frequently Asked, Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. What is the suse-linux-e mailing list? A1. SLE is a high volume, unmoderated mailing list for general discussions about SuSE Linux in English. In other words, it's a wild, largely unsupervised, collection of Linux users that will flood your mailbox with 100-200 messages per day. It's also a great place to get help with your SuSE Linux system or have discussions about Linux.
Q2. What is appropriate content for the list? A2. Questions about configuration, maintenance, and implementation of SuSE Linux. The emphasis is on the x86 platform since we have separate lists for AXP, Sparc, IA64, and PPC.
Q3. What is not appropriate content for the list? A3. Commercial postings of any kind, job postings, non-computer/Linux related material. Because of the large size of the list (1500 subscribers and ~200 messages per day), flame wars and off-topic posting can sometimes result in you being unsubscribed and, in extreme cases, banned from the list. Also, please unsubscribe now if you planning on posting advocacy-type things. We have a list specifically devoted to these sorts of discussion, suse-ot. Email suse-ot-subscribe@suse.com to subscribe.
Q4. How can I retrieve the FAQ? A4. Send an email to suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
Q5. Can I send attachments to the list? A5. You can but anything that's not plain text or a PGP/GPG key will be silently removed from your mail.
Q6. Are there archives of the list? A6. Yes, http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/ but see the FAQ for more details.
Q7. Why do my replies go to the original poster and not the list? A7. There is a more complete answer in FAQ, but the short answer is that it's better this way. Trust us on this one, please.
Q8. Can I get the list in digest form? A8. Not from us. There's a much more complete discussion about this in the FAQ as well.
Q9. How do I pause deliveries from the list while I'm on vacation? A9. You unsubscribe before you leave and resubscribe when you return.
Q10. I'm getting weird bounces/autoreplies/vacation messages from someone else everytime I post to the list. Should I ask the list if anyone else is getting them and what I should do about it? A10. No. The other subscribers can't do anything about it and posting to the list expecting that the list owner will see it, especially on a list this size, is unwise. Instead, contact ml-admin@suse.com and explain what you did in order to receive the bounce/autoresponse/ vacation message making sure to include the full, unedited headers.
--- Administrative commands for the suse-linux-e list ---
I can handle administrative requests automatically. Please do not send them to the list address! Instead, send your message to the correct command address:
To subscribe to the list, send a message to: <suse-linux-e-subscribe@suse.com>
To remove your address from the list, send a message to: <suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com>
Send mail to the following for info and FAQ for this list: <suse-linux-e-info@suse.com> <suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com>
To get message 12 from the archive, send a message to: <suse-linux-e-get.12@suse.com>
The messages do not really need to be empty, but I will ignore their content. Only the ADDRESS you send to is important.
You can start a subscription for an alternate address, for example "john@host.domain", just add a hyphen and your address (with '=' instead of '@') after the command word: <suse-linux-e-subscribe-john=host.domain@suse.com>
To stop subscription for this address, mail: <suse-linux-e-unsubscribe-john=host.domain@suse.com>
In both cases, I'll send a confirmation message to that address. When you receive it, simply reply to it to complete your subscription.
If despite following these instructions, you do not get the desired results, please contact my owner at suse-linux-e-owner@suse.com. Please be patient, my owner is a lot slower than I am ;-)

To confirm that you would like
castro@informatik.uni-kl.de
added to the suse-linux-e mailing list, please send an empty reply to this address:
=20 suse-linux-e-sc.1110208842.aofdkpgpimejdmajbaal-castro=3Dinformatik.uni-k =
l.de
@suse.com
Usually, this happens when you just hit the "reply" button. If this does not work, simply copy the address and paste it into the "To:" field of a new message.
This confirmation serves two purposes. First, it verifies that I am able to get mail through to you. Second, it protects you in case someone forges a subscription request in your name.
