On SUSE 10.2, enabling Xgl in KDE seems to be just as easy as specifying Xgl instead of Xorg in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager DISPLAYMANAGER_XSERVER I see that this setting alone will take care of running compiz instead of kwin. The problem is that it runs compiz with a list of modules, not with "compiz --replace gconf" That can be seen with ps axl | grep compiz Where does it keep its list of the modules it runs compiz with, how can I change that? Use gnome-compiz preferences from this repository http://software.opensuse.org/download/X11:/XGL/ or use gconf-editor -> apps -> compiz or in gnome-control-center -> Xgl effects. -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That is exactly the problem, compiz is not run with "gconf", but rather with a list of modules in the command line. I'd like to change that list to "gconf" so I can use gconf-editor to tell compiz what modules to load. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

The only thing I found in kcontrol is an option that allows switching the window manager between kwin and compiz. But there's no way to specify parameters for compiz. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Try running: compiz dbus decoration minimize wobbly fade cube rotate zoom scale move resize place switcher water screenshot && gtk-window-decorator & I found opensuse-xgl-settings, a kommander script on www.kde-apps.org very useful: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=51201 Basic configuration should now be possible with gconf-editor. -- David Miller -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
