SuSE-related web sites
Is there a website out there which lists all the independent SuSE resources, rpms, howtos, etc. out there? Not SuSE's own stuff, but indie stuff? I'm wondering if such a website would prove useful. Anyone know? I've done a bit of googling but apart from the excellent usr-bin-org, some material on fonts and a bbs forum, I haven't found much. :)

Togan's FAQ: http://toganm.tripod.com/ Peter's site: http://www.susesecurity.com/faq/ (which slightly out of date but still useful) There are also a lot of German sites for things like mplayer packages and other things we're not allowed to ship in the US. -- -ckm

Actually http://susefaq.sf.net is much better as it is always uptodate -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

Great stuff on those two links, very helpful, and thank you for your reply. Ho hum, looks as if there isn't a single site that pulls the whole lot together into one place - links to faqs, links to rpms contributed by users, articles, bbs, breakdown of the SuSE ftp tree, for English-language users, etc. Well, that might be a little project for someone sometime I guess. Probably not little at all as things are constantly changing, but anyway. :)

I've got a start on a page, to which everyone is encouraged to contribute. It's not much, right now, but who knows? http://scott.exti.net (running on a SuSE 8.0 server, BTW ;)) -- Scott Jones (scott at exti dot net)

Wow, that is a really useful collection. Bookmarked right away. Thanks very much for posting it. Just shows that there is more on SuSE out there than appears but it takes some searching around, though I realize that SuSE links are only a part of the whole page. :)

Thansk for this much valuable information Richard. Good to know all the possible places to could read about the same problme as on ehave, or to could place queries :-) By the way, I have the impression, that its not legal to place queries here for Synaptic or apt-get, even I can see they are replied to. Where's the right place - and thanks. -- /Erik
