Morning Susers, Does anyone know how to set up a Linux Machine to conect to a Windows RAS Server with dial-back? I am using a Nokia 6250 via a DLR3P as my modem (tested standard ppp and it works properly) on a SuSE 8.0 Professional Laptop. Would I use the normal ppp connection? Is wvdial better? Any comments or suggestions are most welcome? Thanks in advance Q p.s. wvdial uses pppd. It helps by making the config stuff a little easier, you won't have to mess with chat scripts and the like for example, but the underlying technology is the same. I'm not sure wvdial can help you with callback though. <snip>

I found something, perhaps it helps http://www.van-dijk.net/PPP-NT-HOWTO/PPP-NT-HOWTO-1.html
Hi, After googling and doing some further research, I found this: http://sdb.suselinux.hu/en/sdb/html/ppp_nt.html PPPD does not support the callback feature by default and therefore it needs to be re-compiled, with a whole bunch of extra libaries (DES, SSLeay). So after a day of recompiling and fine-tuning and off course trying to find the damn source code, I got it done... ...but it doesn't work. The DES libary doesn't install and I doubt wether it actually does what I need. The SSLeay libary compiles nicely but doesn't seem to actually solve the problem. The PPP compile works like a charm, Dial-back enabled etc; but the WinNT RAS server still complains about authentication and disconnects me. So I have now re-verted back to the orignal SuSE PPP libary. I have disabled Dial-Back for the meantime on the RAS server and I want to see if I can connect, authenticate, and access the netowork. I will let you know what happens. On a side note, I had to download the source for PPP from the net and I don't really trust it. Where is the SuSE source for PPP (SuSE 8.0 Professional)? The SuSE pppd version in 8.0 has cbcp and ms-chap support compiled in.

You can find any package by zgrepping the file INDEX.gz or ARCHIVES.gz in the root of CD1 or the DVD. /SuSE-8.0/CD1> zgrep ppp INDEX.gz|grep src ./CD5/suse/zq1/rp-pppoe-3.3-106.src.rpm ./CD6/suse/zq2/ppp-2.4.1-150.src.rpm ./CD7/suse/zq3/pppload-1.0-194.src.rpm ./CD7/suse/zq3/smpppd-0.73-3.src.rpm //Anders
