Hi, I know I've seen several mails about staroffice, but I wasn't interested at the time. Now, after managed to install SuSE and Staroffice, I have some reflections. The fonts in Staroffice are terrible. The characters are floating in into each other. The pointer is far in the middle of the last word. Anybody experienced this, and perhaps have a solution? And is it a must to registrate the staroffice - I've installed it from the SuSE 8.0 pro CD. Or will it cease to work after some time if I don't registerate it? Thanks in advance, Thomas
The fonts in Staroffice are terrible. The characters are floating in into each other. Presumably you have 5.2. You will need to set up the fonts carefully. You may find it helpful to log in as root to KDE and use Preferences->System->Font Installer. It has some support for StarOffice. The pointer is far in the middle of the last word. Anybody experienced this, and perhaps have a solution? I have not encountered this And is it a must to registrate the staroffice - I've installed it from the SuSE 8.0 pro CD. You don't have to register. If you use the "registered already button"

StarOffice 6.0 overcomes most of these problems and will eventually have a Swedish spell checker. I think SuSE are about to release a version of 8.0 in the US with StarOffice 6.0 on it. I presume the additional cost will be much less than the cost of buying StarOffice 6.0 from Sun. I presume also that eventually we'll be able to buy the same product in Europe. StarOffice supports spell checking in 20 languages at this time. Danish is included, so don't you think Swedish probably is as well? Unfortunately Sun doesn't list the languages that they support with spell checking :-( Cheers, Brian
Svedish var med StarOffice 5.1 och 5.2 och med beta versionen av 6'an. Dominique Michel Durant wrote:
