[SLE] YaST Installation Source in 10.1 refuses to add local dir
I'm trying to add /tmp/rpm as a source. Always I get message "Unable to create installation source from URL 'dir://tmp/rpm'. Try again?" whether I type it manually, or browse to it. Is this a known bug? It worked in 10.0. -- "All have sinned & fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 NIV Team OS/2 ** Reg. I don't know about it being a bug, but it is IIANM a change with the new 'update/package management' system in 10.1. It appears you are now required to make it a repository via createrepo. I believe before there was a script genIS_CACHE or something like that that made it's own rpm info that now seems to require a repodata structure. Do a search on the opensuse site for installation sources and you will find more info on this. At the present IMHO we are experiencing the change to a new package management system that has us all out of sorts because for at least me, the old system wasn't broken, and I followed the old axiom, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." I realize the new system has more potential, and someday I may actually prefer it to the old system I knew and worked pretty good for my needs, but even though it pretty much works here, the CPU load is so bad I may again (3rd time since 10.1 upgrade from 9.3) remove zmd, rug, and zen-updater. -- Joe Morris Registered Linux user 231871 -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

See if the workaround at: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=168358 works for you. Else use Smart. It's really smart, IMHO. :) -- Tux #395953 resides at http://samvit.org playing with KDE 3.53 on SUSE Linux 10.1 $ date [] CCE +2006-06-13 W24-2 UTC+0530

Now I have that too: http://spinink.net/2006/05/20/installing-smart-package-manager/ -- "All have sinned & fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 NIV Team OS/2 ** Reg.
