[opensuse] zypper issue / question
All, I have my install DVD listed as repository for zypper, but it is disabled. If I try to install a package via "zypper in iptraf", I'm getting a failure because /dev/sr0 is not available. Is something broke? Or am I doing it wrong? == Detailed info below See repository #1 as my /dev/sr0 repository. Note it is not enabled.

More important than that is why you repo's for three different versions enabled. I would think that alone could cause mass confusion. Ken, I know it's hard to read with the line wrap but I only have repos for 10.3 and 11.1 in the list. Only the 11.1 repos are enabled. FYI: This is basically the way a 10.3 to 11.1 upgrade via DVD left it. I don't think I massaged those repos at all. I guess I could have goin in manually and cleaned it up. But this is a server that I don't tinker with, so once the upgrade was done I have not had any real reason to go look at the repos. This all still leaves the original question un-answered. I think you should try to go in and remove those 10.3 repos, and then try again. Perhaps use Yast to add a repo for the dvd. 1 | cd:///?devices=/dev/hdd,/dev/sr0 | cd:///?devices=/dev/hdd,/dev/sr0 | No | No That one is disabled. 8 | openSUSE-10.3-DVD 10.3 | openSUSE-10.3-DVD 10.3 | No | No You could edit that one, rename to 11.1, and enable. Carlos, I don't have a DVD connected to the box. To upgrade I plugged in a USB based DVD. I want zypper to ignore all dvd based repos and get the package from the web. But yes I can delete some of the unused repos. I like to leave the DVD one in place just in case I need to install something directly from DVD in the future. Ah! I thought you wanted to use the DVD and it failed, I understood you wrong. :-) Then leave just one, you have two.

Leave it at "no no". Ie, disabled, do not scan. Should work, it does for me. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. This actually was my issue. As I started deleting old disabled repos, I came across 3 that were CD/DVD entries. And the third one was still enabled. Sorry for the confusion.
