[opensuse] Having a heck of a time getting Tumbleweed installed on my new T570 at work
Hey everyone, We got new laptops at work, Lenovo T570's. Long story short, I can boot from the Tumbleweed install DVD fine, and it seems to install without any issues. But whenever I reboot, it never boots oS, unless I boot from the install DVD and say "boot from hard drive." I've tried enabling UEFI mode on the laptop, forcing legacy only, enabling and disabling secure boot, and about every other combination I can think of (each with a fresh installation afterwards.) All of them have had the same results. I've also tried two different Tumbleweed snapshots, 20170516 and 20170724. Is there anything special I need to do to get it to actually boot oS without the DVD? yes, you need to change the UEFI boot order. I had to do it to a new toshiba laptop. it has been a while and my memory not so good, so you will have to find the linux app or invocation to make that change. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Well, let's first diagnose the problem by using "bootinfoscript". Please download it from here: https://github.com/arvidjaar/bootinfoscript/raw/master/bootinfoscript then run it. You'll obtain a file "RESULTS.txt". You can attach it to your reply (don't paste it, the lines may wrap), or run: susepaste -t "bootinfoscript results" RESULTS.txt you will obtain an URL; just paste the URL into your reply here. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E.
