How can I turn off the virtual resolution in kde. I want to run in 800X600 but it runs in 640X480 and goes off the screen and I have to scroll around with the mouse to get around the screen. This is a hinderance and if anyone knows how to disable I would be most grateful. matt howell mathowel@nmsu.edu - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>

Well, through yast, or susewm I'm not sure, but, if you want to just open the XF86Config file and modify, I can help you. Goto /etc. and edit the XF86Config file with your favorite editor, then goto the screen section labeled Section "Screen" and comment out all occurrences of 'Virtual' ie: Section "Screen" Driver "vga2" Device "Generic VGA" Monitor "Generic Monitor" Subsection "Display" Modes "640x480" # Virtual 800 600 EndSubsection EndSection -- Ec|ipse on EFnet - tomas@primenet.com - <A HREF="http://www.primenet.com/~tomas"><A HREF="http://www.primenet.com/~tomas</A">http://www.primenet.com/~tomas</A</A>> Ec|ipse@|Watcher| - <A HREF="http://pacific.undertow.net/~tomas/no-net.html"><A HREF="http://pacific.undertow.net/~tomas/no-net.html</A">http://pacific.undertow.net/~tomas/no-net.html</A</A>> Slackware Linux v3.6 - Kernels 2.0.35/2.1.131 - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archiv at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>

If you like a nice GUI app, try NEdit.
Otherwise the Vi[m] and Emacs disciples can war for your soul.
Kedit and Maxwell are both VERY good. I like nedit for things. If I want to brew some coffee, take a walk around the block, and conquer world hunger, I just start up emacs :) BTW, nedit comes with suse 5.3; has a nice interface, easy to setup and use, and looks familiar. I am a user on the win32 side of ultraedit32. It has a great interface and ability. Nothing beats pico for a lot of stuff though. -- Michael E. As we sit here and talk about what is the best editor, I love the fact that not only is emacs a superior editor to any, but if there are feature that I like about a given editor, I can always add it to emacs. Of course I am also a person who would rather LaTeX and a good style, rather than a Gooey (or is that GUI) whiz bang, word processor. It is the purist in me (or is it masachist?). - --- Kim C. well you can use the xf86config and reconfigure your XF86Config file. When you get to the resolution setup......set your resolutions up the the order you want them then just answer no to the next question which asks if you want to enable virtual resolutions... keith At 08:42 PM 1/4/99 -0700, you wrote:
