xmame dependencies, need to know how to install
I was trying to install Xmame (xmame-0.61.1-1.i386.rpm) in my SuSE 8.0. But it was not possible since I don't have libc.so.6(GLIB_2.3). How could I solve this contretemps? error: failed dependencies: libc.so.6(GLIB_2.3) is needed by xmame-0.61.1-1 thanks for any help a. -- Adagilson Batista Bispo da Silva Bibliotecário FIOCRUZ-Centro de Pesquisa Aggeu Magalhães Fone 81 3302-6524

Where did you get that xmame rpm from? -- Mads Martin Jørgensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. P. J.
I don't know (at least, no more) where it was grabbed, but Google.com showed me this: http://www.forte-intl.com/~ronald/xmame/ Success! a. Mads Martin Joergensen escreveu:

It says on that page: These xmame RPMs were built on Red Hat Linux 8.0 with all the latest patches applied. If you're running something else and you're having problems installing, it's probably better to grab the src RPM and rebuild it yourself. Since this is a SuSE system, you should use SuSE rpms. -- Mads Martin Jørgensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. Or do what it says up there: "If you're running something else and you're having problems installing, it's probably better to grab the src RPM and rebuild it yourself." -- Mads Martin Jørgensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. Ok, my friend! thanks for replying but let's suppose my Linux would be RH and not SuSE and I should install the dependency libc.soxx, Should not I? How install the libc.soxx? a. Mads Martin Joergensen escreveu:

But then you should be asking the question on a RH mailinglist as this is SuSE -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
That's OK, sorry, for being rude! I just want to solve this problem and now I'm gonna to install the dependencies or, after this try, to recompile the rpm for my distribution. Good-will people, don't get out, please ;) a. Togan Muftuoglu escreveu:

Problem is they use another glibc version as you can see from the error message. -- Mads Martin Jørgensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. P. J.
And what now? How update my glibc to the required version (libc.so.6(GLIB_2.3) I am using SuSE 8.0. thanks, Mads a. Mads Martin Joergensen escreveu:

You would have to create a RPM yourself as there is *no* official glibc 2.3 RPM available. [TOFU recycled] Philipp -- Philipp Thomas <pthomas@suse.de> SuSE Linux AG, Deutschherrnstr. 15-19, D-90429 Nuremberg, Germany
