fetfchmail collects successfully but no mail in spool
Hi y'all I am a relative newbie to Linux (<12 months playing on and off, mainly with Mandrake) After getting sick & tired of BSOD in XP, I've bitten the bullet and purchased SuSE 8.0 Pro. After a successful install and with just 5 days woth of investigation, I have 2 problem areas the first of which is Internet access and Dial-on-Demand. As I understand it one should start KInternet by clicking on the small cable icon then whenever an application requires access to a remote server smpppd will dial one's ISP and start "ppp" & "fetchmail". However, for me dialling only commences when I use YOU or XPilot. Also, I wish to receive all email into "/var/spool/mail/" but nothing is arriving. Below is sample output of my manually started fetchmail. I have created aliases "postmaster:root" AND "root:suse" Connection to my ISP's POP server seems successful but no mail is received in my spool. Can anyone please advise? Please let me know if you need further information. This email address - suse@syrene.fsnet.co.uk - is my home email but I do have web access. I have fetchmail running as a daemon (started by inittab). Here are my settings (sanitized) from .fetchmailrc: # Configuration created Sun Aug 22 13:05:28 1999 by fetchmailconf set postmaster "postmaster" poll pop.ne.mediaone.net with proto POP3 user <my mediaoneuser> is <my local user name> pass <my password> poll mail.attbi.com with proto POP3 user <my attbi user name> is <my local user name> pass <my password> Some versions of fetchmail would quit on a failure. Also, fetchmail keeps a fairly comprehensive log file. (/var/log/fetchmail on my system). On 19 Jun 2002 at 23:14, suse wrote:
