[opensuse] 11.0 a2 - Updater Question
I got the following message on my 11.0 version: openSUSE Updater: Unable to check for patches and updates because /usr/sbin/zypp-checkpatches-wrapper helper program is not set SUID root. This problem might be solved by setting the "File Permissions" in YaST "Local Security" tab to "easy" or by modifying /etc/permissions.local Is this a new feature of 11? I don't recall having to do this in any previous version. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I guess it might just not work? Otherwise please check if you security level is "easy". Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Its actually Orange ;) And I mean the /etc/sysconfig/security::PERMISSION_SECURITY setting here, that make the setuid bit on above binary appear. Again, due to various libzypp internal rewrites the binary just might not work currently. No, but they do warrant updater testing, and I'm pretty sure I've seen an update channel with some test updates. 10.3 rc's had a couple test updates. Not sure when they became available, but I don't think the alpha releases had anything. I just moved my speakers to my 10.3 based system and the sound works fine. Both system have SBLive cards. One system is a P2 with 768K Ram, 866MHZ processor.
