I'd start with the docs for Samba (client and server). SMB will handle most of your networking, unless you want to install an NFS client on your Windows boxes...

the major issues are covered in several books http://www.riverdale.k12.or.us/linux/books/ http://linux.ittoolbox.com/nav/t.asp?t=311&p=316&h1=311&h2=316 Aside from the major things, like samba management and network directory services, the compatibility issues are mostly a few tips and tricks scattered throughout the web, like getting automatic proxy discovery working in IE, small things like that. I don't know of any good "toolbox" type book, and it would probably have to be frequently updated to stay current, but those minor issues are usually quickly solved as they crop up. -- Don't forget to vote today
