[opensuse] partitioning support for new 4K sector drives to achieve optimum performance
All, Please vote for: https://features.opensuse.org/306443 in order to have opensuse 11.3 optimise partition layouts to the underlying hardware. background: The kernel and parted have been improved in the last year to allow optimum alignment of partitions with this new class of drives as well as with mdraid etc. I believe it will take a change to the opensuse installer to leverage these changes. ie. parted now needs to be called with a new command line arg. I've looked in openfate and #306443 is not exactly the same request, but it is so close it does not make sense to create a separate request in my mind. Thanks Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Well if you guys can just shoehorn along EXT4 because its the newest
thing I don't see why this is a challenge.

It may not be, but the yast partitioner for one will need to be updated to manage parted correctly. (I'm assuming the yast partitioner uses parted to create the partitions.) And since I don't personally plan to work on the yast partitioner the idea is to suggest changes like this via openfate.
