[opensuse] Klamav Upgrade
Hi all I have tried to upgrade Klamav using the wizard to download and recompile it automatically, but it seems that I don't have installed the libraries to do so. Initially when installed openSUSE I didn't install any development tool, but it seems is necessary now, in yast I have surfed in the patterns and have selected gcc++ libraries but it seems is not enough... what libraries i must install in order to recompiling.... Thanks, F -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Open up yast2 packet-manager and choose patterns/scheme in the filter pull-down. I didn't memorize the exact English labels though, but I'm pretty sure you'll figure it out m8. Then choose the development patters you are looking for and install the packeges. I usually also install all devel packages. It might be overkill but I do so anyway. You can do it afterwards and of course reapply such installing procedure from time to time. Again, go for the the packet-manager in yast2. Then choose extras and hit 'install all corresponding devel packages' or something like that. But be careful! Although I didn't apply to the debug packages my opensuse takes almost 20GB of disk space. clamAV is the xterm utility that must be run from xtern. If you search in Yast for KlamAV - Toolbox - you will get the GUI package. Remember its buggy - it does find viruses, however a scan on 120Gb disk took 3 days. The real-time agent has some conflict with loading and it will stop you using suspend to disk or RAM as this service cannot be halted!. It is auto updates once the application clamAV has been installed ad the firsg 'freshclam' has been downloaded - after that it will self update definitions. I asked the for KlamAV GUI toolbox in 10.0 - nice to see it in beta if noting else 3 years later. With respect to any additional library, once you have found KlamAV on the Yast Search, the dependant modules will load. Unless you have a particular need for the GUI interface I would not install it but stall freshclam from x-term and running a clamscan at xterm - . If I had put up a module , despite its beta standing as The KlamAV GUI toolbox is - I would have lost my job. You can make your own determinations Kind Regards Scott Jan Tiggy wrote:
