Hi all, I was complaining about losing the KMail setting a few days ago, and some of you suggest me to get UPS. I want to know which UPS should I get for my computer. My computer only run SuSE Linux 7.3 Pro. No dual boot. 1. Is the UPS that can be manage in computer offer additional value?? (please give me user experience). 2. What brand do you recomend?? 3. Is there any technical term/knowladge I should know when I want to buy? ex. Don't buy UPS with 'XYZABC' technology because blablabla.... Thank you

I don't know about your area, but here in the Philippines sags, spikes and brownouts are common. If that happens much there (i.e. low voltage), I would suggest making sure it has a built in AVR (automatic voltage regulator). Most here are simply a buck/boost transformer, kicking in a few extra coils when the voltage gets low. This can save big on the battery, which would otherwise kick in. I would also suggest getting one with an interface cable to be able to communicate with the computer to be able to shutdown in an orderly fashion should a power failure happen. Hi, I use Best Patriot 750va for all my server installations. Using the monitor and PC/Server onthe UPS it lasts for approximately 45 - 50 mins until the server automatically shuts down the machine. Thank you for all of you that answer my Q. I bought a PowerStar UPS with a connection to computer. It's the 650VA model. I really hope this will improve my computing experience in Linux. ;)
