[opensuse] How do you turn off automatic expansion to full screen?
When one moves a window to the edge of the screen it automatically expands to full screen. Can someone tell me how to turn this feature off (because I find it annoying)? Thanks. It depends. What version of openSUSE are you using and which DE? Jim -- Jim Henderson Please keep on-topic replies on the list so everyone benefits -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I think I've experienced that "feature" without knowing it. There have been many times when I maximized something when I was only trying to move it. I also find it annoying. If I want something maximized, I am fully capable of hitting the appropriate button. I don't need the desktop deciding that's what I want, when I don't.// -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

About the only time this is useful is when you are trying to split the screen with two different windows. Drag one left till cursor hits edge, release and the window re-sizes to take half, drag the other right, same thing. At last, that's how it is implemented on most platforms. My KDE 4.6 systems go one further, and allow you to tile the display in quarters by dragging to the left edge near the top or bottom to get quarters, and near the center to get half screen. And No, I can't find where this is configured either. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I would look in systemsettings/"Configure Desktop" under "Workspace Behavior" --> Screen Edges Honestly, in KDE almost all settinga for the desktop actions are available in "Configure Desktop". -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You should look in "Configure Desktop"/systemsettings see answer to eddy. -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

System Settings, see answer to eddie (mispelled prev). -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://linuxcounter.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Ah, good find. I was assuming that was a Window Behavior, (because windows are the only thing affected). Anyway, it appears you can kill off the Maximize while retaining the ability to split-screen. Nice. -- _____________________________________ ---This space for rent--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks. I actually went to that section and turned off one of the features but failed to noticed that maximise was also there. It's a big relief to switch these features off. They were driving me crazy. Eddie -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
