RE: [SLE] problem mounting a USB digital camera
I really don't have any recommendation about any specific brands (due to lack of knowledge :). The only thing you need is a reader for the type of memory card your camera has. i.e. my CoolPix 775 uses "CompactFlash" memory cards. The reader I bought is a SanDisk ImageMate which works great (it was about $23 at CompUSA). Here are some of the specs on the ImageMate: <snip> PRODUCT FEATURES Transfers files at a rate of 600KB/second Supports Windows 98, Windows 2000, Mac OS 8.6 or later and Linux Connects via USB port PRODUCT DETAILS SDDR-31-01 Type of Accessory: USB CompactFlash memory card reader Compatible With: Digital cameras, MP3 players, handhelds, camcorders and notebooks Additional Features: USB port connection Warranty Term - Parts 1 year Warranty Term - Labor 1 year </snip> Mike ------------------------------------------------- Cleary_Mike@emc.com x6033 ------------------------------------------------- A redneck's famous last words: "Hey y'all, watch this...." -----Original Message----- From: Derek Fountain [mailto:fountai@hursley.ibm.com] Sent: Thursday, February 14, 2002 10:14 AM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: Re: [SLE] problem mounting a USB digital camera
My camera (Nikon CoolPix 750) wasn't supported by gphoto either. So I just went and bought a USB card reader which linux recognized as another storage device. I just mount this "drive" and I can then copy the pictures off to the hard drive. You can get card readers for about $20 or so.
Interesting. I'm rather tempted to do the same, because although my camera is supported by gphoto, it's fiddly business connecting up. Are all USB card readers the same, or do I need a particular type, brand, etc? -- 3:11pm up 1 day, 6:55, 1 user, load average: 0.02, 0.07, 0.04 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq and the archives at http://lists.suse.com
