[opensuse] Problems installing OpenSuse 12.2
All, I'm kind of new at this so I apologize in advance if I'm missing the obvious. I am attempting to install 12.2 into a VMware Player session. When installing (not via the EZ install process) I get a ton of packages that have Hash / Package errors. I've downloaded from several mirrors and torrents yet get the exact same files with the errors. I'm installing directly from hard disk and two completely different computers so it's not a media or computer problem. Does anyone have any ideas as to what may be happening and any possible solutions? Have you verified the checksums on the ISOs you've downloaded? Hash/Package errors would see to indicate a bad download. Also, are you installing from burned media or from the ISO in the VM? Jim, I did run a verify and it passed with no problems. I downloaded via both torrent and at least two mirrors. The 32 and 64 bit versions failed in exactly the same way and on the same files. I've tried burning to DVD, installing from hard drive with the iso file, and mounting the iso as a drive letter on two computers -- all with the same results. This is extremely puzzling. I thought 'VMware Player' only hosts VMs that have already been created (isn't that what 'Player' implies?) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Did you do the media check verification or an MD5 checksum verification on the file? It's been a while since I looked at VMware's products, but I seem to recall there's a 'legacy mode' switch for virtual CD/DVD drives - if you haven't enabled that, give that a try.
