Got DRI on my R128 M3 (kind of)
Hi, I was following the discussions here on how to get DRI up and running. For a while I was trying to get it running on my A21p laptop which uses the ATI Rage 128 Mobility LF (according to X). Now at long last, XFree86.0.log shows me the lines every gamer wants to see: (II) R128(0): [drm] installed DRM signal handler (II) R128(0): [DRI] installation complete (II) R128(0): [drm] Added 128 16384 byte vertex/indirect buffers (II) R128(0): [drm] Mapped 128 vertex/indirect buffers (II) R128(0): Direct rendering enabled Except that there still is a problem. When I switch to mesa (switch2mesasoft) all I get is about 80 fps but the gears are visible. When I switch to xf86_glx (switch2xf86_glx) I get a monochromatic (red or indigo) window and I don't see the gears rotating and the speed goes up to 540fps but the fact that all I see is a red window is not very helpful. Any idea what may cause the problem? Avi -- Avi Schwartz Get a Life, avi@CFFtechnologies.com Get Linux!
Hi Avi: Jostein was kind enough to send me a link to DRI.org: http://dri.sourceforge.net/ I amreading through it now. No hints so far. On Sunday 29 July 2001 08:59 pm, you wrote:

I get similar: (II) RADEON(0): Acceleration enabled (II) RADEON(0): Using hardware cursor (scanline 1540) (II) RADEON(0): Largest offscreen area available: 1024 x 2299 <snip> (II) RADEON(0): Direct rendering enabled Can't figure it out. I think my my speeds are well below what they should be. I also ran glxinfo and said my cadr was running slow. -- Cheers, Jonathan
