Yes. The solution is simple: go to the "start" icon (the first one on the taskbar) and select Multimedia/Sound/Mixer and when you click on Mixer the volume control will reappear on the taskbar.
Very funny. That is the part that isn't working. I can run the bar up and down all I want and the volume doesn't change. I have the same problem with the SB Live! card here at work. What I need to know is what packages, or config files someone else may have found that need to be changed, or reinstalled. --- See Ya' Howard Coles Jr. John 3:16! _____________________________________________________________________ // free anonymous email || forums \\ subZINE || anonymous browsing subDIMENSION -- http://www.subdimension.com

Wasn't meant to be funny. I misread your message - sorry. Try this: from the Start Applications icon select Preferences/Admininstraton/YaST2 modules/Hardware/Sound nd then check to see what level the Volume is set at. You will probably find that it has been reset to a very low level. This has happened to me after updates. Cheers. -- Don't resent getting old. A great many are denied that privelege.
