Hello, i've a suse 9.0 server with the NIS working. On my workstation, i would like to have my home directory from the server, The nis client is working but i need to configure the automounter. how can i configure it ? Thanks, Eric.
Tricky.
On server and clients eg server=192.168.1.160 make a file /etc/auto.home
* 192.168.1.160:/home/&
add the following to /etc/auto.master
/home auto.home yp rw
Now use yast nfs server on the server to export /home to * with the options rw
Then use yast nis server on the server and yast nis client on the client. Make sure that the nis domain is the same on the server and client and that you check the box labelled 'start automounter' on the client.
