skype-0.90.0.14-suse.i386.rpm includes the ability to dial any number worldwide. I guess this feature is a subscription service, I've been waiting on their server to chuck some details back to konqueror, it's a store directory in the URL, so I shall hopefully be getting details back some time, it's been about 10 minutes waiting so far. May be I caught the rush hour for Antipodean users. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer =====LINUX ONLY USED HERE=====

Their site says it's a prepaid service with a number of carriers, calls worldwide at local rates. I still haven't managed to get on to the store site to get full details of how to prepay. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer =====LINUX ONLY USED HERE=====

Yes of course, but it would have been FAR EASIER to just go to their website than to ask that question here... Unless you read this list on your cellphone or something... -- _____________________________________ John Andersen

Lately we have been having problems with Skype, the other end can hear me, I can't hear the other end or I hear something that sounds like a drum solo being performed over and over again. Last night, neither end could be heard, so we had to reply on the built-in instant messaging. Problem with the Windows version at the other end (USA) and Linux/Windows (under Crossover Office) versions at my end. We did have one excellent chat about 4 nights ago. Meanwhile I'm having to revert to the hamradio VOIP. Has anyone had trouble free operation with Skype lately?. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... I use it to talk to a mate of mine he is using Windows whereas I'm using Linux without any problems. What I found at the beginning was that you must have a good quality headset and mic, otherwise you cannot get a decent audio level. This applies to both Windows and Linux. The other thing is the mixer settings, I use kmix as I found kamix did not allow access to any of the advanced settings. On the input side you must have the record (red button) turned on as well as the mic boost (Advanced) to use skype. -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
