Hi list, I've got an Adaptec 29160N SCSI controller on my pc. Anyone has tested it? Because I've searched it on SuSE's hardware database but nothing.... I would like to install a SuSE 8.0 and I want to know if I had to recompile my kernel with the driver's patch. (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&cat=/Product/ASC-29160N&filekey=linux-aic7xxx-6.2.4-2.4.12.patch.gz) Thanks in advance.

I have 29160 and it works out of the box. I think it should work with 29160N too, as the only difference is that yours has got less pins (it is ONLY for 32bit PCI bus) while mine has some more (unuseful on a 32bit PCI bus, as they remain unplugged) pins. Praise

Tage, Would recommend you use SSH instead of telnet. I believe that SSH is installed by default, and once you have sshed to the machine you won't notice any difference to telnet. Why use SSH as opposed to telnet? Because SSH is encrypted whereas telnet is not (someone on your network can see your password with little effort). Regards, Jon

Hello
Ihave set this parameter to yes (SMTPD_LISTEN_REMOTE=yes) it was no
But i still get no mail, and when I try to send to box, nothing happen, and I cant see anything in /var/log/mail with a tail -f
Since you are running sendmail via inetd adjust your /etc/host.allow file since sendmail comes with tcp wrappers enabled please next time trim the unnecessary parts in the mail before sending -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
Thanks again for you help
Now it is working, I make a new SuSEconfig and a restart so it is ok now
If you come this way a day, I will give coffee!!!
Thanks

As Togan said, the problem is sendmail is only listening at lo interface. To
solver this, edit /etc/sysconfig/mail file and change
SMTPD_LISTEN_REMOTE="yes".
Restart sendmail and enjoy sending mail!

Please, reply this to have more info:
1. Type netstat -a and see the line where smtp socket is listening. Is binded to localhost? (localhost:smtp)
2. Type telnet localhost 25 and see the result.
3. Do you init sendmail from inetd.conf?
