Hi all. I know that many members disapprove of HTML email but I often have times to use it and prefer it for some things. Now that that's out of the way: I have discovered that when I compose an email in which I use some colored text that any links I include in the message are changed from clickable links to plain text. I cannot seem to find any way around this. Any suggestions, other than not using HTML formatting, would be appreciated. I'm running SUSE 9.3 with KMail 1.8 and KDE 3.4.0 TIA. -- LTR Registered Linux user #280295 itisi@kvremcwb.com

I'm running SUSE 9.3 with KMail 1.8 and KDE 3.4.0 I sometimes use html for sending long links and clickable links usually work. Try using http:// You might also want to put the link insize of an angle bracket: <http://www.suse.com>
(I use sylpheed claws at home and kmail at work, so I don't want to test it directly). -- Jerry Feldman <gaf@blu.org> Boston Linux and Unix user group http://www.blu.org PGP key id:C5061EA9 PGP Key fingerprint:053C 73EC 3AC1 5C44 3E14 9245 FB00 3ED5 C506 1EA9

Hi again. Perhaps my subject line was somewhat confusing. The problem actually only arises when I use any colored text in my message. If for example I want to emphasize one word by making that one word red, then all links become plain text. In addition any links in any quoted text also become plain text. Also quoted text changes from the default green to black. I've tried this numerous times and the result is always the same, even one word of colored text and all links, even in quoted text, become plain text . I also tried using the angle brackets as suggested but no luck. I'm not sure what is meant by "Try using http://" The links I'm referring to include the http:// -- LTR Registered Linux user #280295 itisi@kvremcwb.com

This is in kmail, and your link above is clickable, as are the email address and URL in your sig, and all URLs in the default list signature It isn't the sending email client that determines if a link is clickable, it's the receiving. Unless the html is screwed up somehow, that is. Maybe there's a tag that hasn't been closed properly, or an unterminated quoted string?

Thanks for your response. The mail I sent had no colored text in it. I don't believe it was even in HTML, at least I didn't send it in HTML. I've had people receiving my emails tell me that my links are plain text so I've resent them with no colored text and the links come through just fine. If the list will accept HTML formatted posts, I'll send this one in HTML with one colored word to test what I'm saying.
