I just discovered Foo Billiards (/usr/bin/foobillard) is broke. I haven't had time to play it in the past few weeks and now I'm crushed. I have done a couple of yast online updates, but can't say what could be causing the problem. It does not APPEAR to be directly related to 3D. glxgears and GL-117 run as expected with high frame rates, so I believe the nvidia card and v 7167 driver is working properly. When foobillard runs it opens a window filled with a black background for a second, then it dies. running it from the shell (konsole) rather than from the menu I see it reports... kenjen@wolverine:~> foobillard usage: foobillard [--option [<arg>]] options: --player1 <arg> arg=ai|human set player1 ai/human [snip -- several pages of command line options] --help this help the color <0xrrggbb> means one byte for each red, green, blue player_copy1 player_copy2 player_copy3 bls player_copy3.5 player_copy4 player_copy1 player_copy2 player_copy3 computer player_copy3.5 player_copy4 Fatal signal: Segmentation Fault (SDL Parachute Deployed) Segmentation fault I guess that says something may be wrong with an SDL library or something may be abusing the SDL library badly. ldd reports these libraries are being loaded: kenjen@wolverine:~> ldd /usr/bin/foobillard linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libfreetype.so.6 => /usr/lib/libfreetype.so.6 (0x4003c000) libSDL-1.2.so.0 => /usr/lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0 (0x400ac000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/libpthread.so.0 (0x4013b000) libSM.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libSM.so.6 (0x4014d000) libICE.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libICE.so.6 (0x40155000) libGL.so.1 => /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 (0x4016d000) libGLU.so.1 => /usr/lib/libGLU.so.1 (0x401e5000) libXaw.so.8 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXaw.so.8 (0x40262000) libm.so.6 => /lib/tls/libm.so.6 (0x402be000) libXi.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXi.so.6 (0x402e1000) libpng.so.3 => /usr/lib/libpng.so.3 (0x402e9000) libz.so.1 => /lib/libz.so.1 (0x40317000) libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/libc.so.6 (0x40328000) libstdc++.so.5 => /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.5 (0x4043f000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/libdl.so.2 (0x404fc000) libasound.so.2 => /usr/lib/libasound.so.2 (0x40500000) libX11.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 (0x405ac000) libXext.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXext.so.6 (0x406a8000) libaa.so.1 => /usr/lib/libaa.so.1 (0x406b6000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 => /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0x40000000) libGLcore.so.1 => /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1 (0x406d1000) libnvidia-tls.so.1 => /usr/lib/tls/libnvidia-tls.so.1 (0x40e22000) libgcc_s.so.1 => /lib/libgcc_s.so.1 (0x40e24000) libXmu.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXmu.so.6 (0x40e2c000) libXt.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 (0x40e42000) libXpm.so.4 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4 (0x40e95000) libXp.so.6 => /usr/X11R6/lib/libXp.so.6 (0x40ea6000) libslang-utf8.so.1 => /usr/lib/libslang-utf8.so.1 (0x40eae000) libgpm.so.1 => /usr/lib/libgpm.so.1 (0x40f20000) libncurses.so.5 => /lib/libncurses.so.5 (0x40f26000) Any suggestions at what else to look at to figure out what is broken ?

remove it with kpackage then reinstall if its still a problem then do online update. BTW it is in 9.1 but not the menus and its very dark and hard to view. I also tried in konsole. -- ___ _ _ _ ____ _ _ _ | | | | [__ | | | |___ |_|_| ___] | \/

How do you install it on suse 9.3 ? In a user login open a konsole and run kpackage Do a find for foobillard then click install. You will need your root password when prompted for the install. it will ask for the correct disk.
