KDE has a section in its Control Center for setting various power-saving options. My BIOS also has a collection of options, the main one of which offers the alternatives Enabled / Disabled / UserDefined. There are also options for setting the hard disk shutdown time, etc., which can either be a specific time interval or Disabled. It's clear enough how to set the options in the Control Center, but what's not clear is how to set the ones in the BIOS so that the ones in the Control Center work as advertised. Paul
