[SuSE Linux] Re: SuSE has updated boxed 6.1 set 2.2.5 -> 2.2.7

Yes, but that's hardly enough for any practical purposes. The version number of the distribution should be point-incremented It should be clearly shown on the box. There should be a document on your web site for each _release_ (not just for each major version) with a list of changes to each package in that release (compile it from your /usr/doc/packages/*/CHANGES files). It should be made much easier to identify all updated packages than it has been. I note SuSE have taken action on this score - the suse_update directories are looking a lot cleaner today and the updates&bugfixes web page seems to have been brought into step with the ftp site. All the same, I wonder if there are some packages which have changed for your latest 6.1 CDs which haven't been explicitly identified as updates in this manner. The tidy-up of the ftp site is encouraging. I hope SuSE will continue to be responsive to customer feedback. -- rclark@virgosolutions.demon.co.uk Ralph Clark, Virgo Solutions Ltd (UK) __ _ / / (_)__ __ ____ __ * Powerful * Flexible * Compatible * Reliable * / /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / *Well Supported * Thousands of New Users Every Day* /____/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ The Cost Effective Choice - Linux Means Business! -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e Check out the SuSE-FAQ at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A">http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/</A</A>> and the archive at <A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html"><A HREF="http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A">http://www.suse.com/Mailinglists/suse-linux-e/index.html</A</A>>
