Hello, I have been attempting to update Suse 7.1 to Suse 7.3 with little success. I have tried a network update (ftp), but the network I am on does not respond to the bootp request sent by yast. I have also downloaded the 7.3 directory from a mirror of the Suse site (ftp.crc.ca) using wget. I can get yast to see the directory with the files in it, but it tells me that my system is up to date, relative to the downloaded files (from 'Update Entire System' in yast). Any suggestions? Thanks, John. -- ========================================== John Janmaat Department of Economics Acadia University, Wolfville, NS, B0P 1X0 (902)585-1461 All opinions stated are personal, unless otherwise indicated.
Sure I have! I did exactly this using apt-rpm. And now I'm using it to keep my system up to date. As you have the 7.3 rpms already on your system, it is relatively easy to use apt-rpm. But, you need to create an apt repository to be able to do the update. The latter can be easily created with apt4rpm. See http://apt4rpm.sf.net for more info about apt4rpm and apt-rpm. The first project provides the server application and the latter the client stuff. In your case an apt-get update; apt-get dist-upgrade will be sufficient to update your box compley from 7.1 to 7.3 Are you actually already a 2.4 kernel, as 7.3 is running a 7.3 kernel. I don't know about the implications of doing a upgrade from a 2.2 to a 2.4 kernel. I hope it gets you going! Op donderdag 7 februari 2002 18:10, schreef John Janmaat:
